Day 3 - Wednesday, April 19th 2017

Sunrise on the moors - it doesn’t get much more beautiful than that!  Well-rested and well-breakfasted, we ventured back in to the town center of Haworth today and began our morning with a brisk mile walk up the moors, the inspiration for much of the Bronte sisters' literature.  From the top, we could see for miles across the expanse of the English countryside.  A little drama up on the hill, Catherine and Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights appeared in the form of two of our talented students and gave us a performance straight out of the gothic novel.  They were brilliant!   A tour of the Parsonage and the church followed with up close and personal details of the famous family.  We were sobered to understand that though they professed the Truth, the family didn’t live out their faith.  We were challenged to live authentically with robust obedience to and tender affection for the Lord.  A little shopping, a cup of yummy soup and we bid farewell to this lovely town.  Off to Stratford-upon-Avon!

Beautiful view from the hotel

The swans on the River Avon where Weeping Willows grace the banks invited us to Shakespeare’s hometown.  Our hotel, the Crowne Plaza, sits on the edge of this picturesque town.  We tried our skills at punting on the River and found that we better keep our day jobs!  Made for some great pictures and a whole lot of laughs (from the spectators especially!)   This celebrated town is the perfect mix of old and new - from neighborhoods of original cobblestone streets and rickety homes to the contemporary Royal Shakespearean Theater.

We finished today with a dinner cruise down the Avon on the Countess of Evesham.  While the boat only holds 44 passengers, some were treated to dinner at the Rooftop Restaurant at the Royal Shakespearean Theater.  Either option was the perfect ending to the best day yet.  We finish today with grateful and happy hearts. This sweet group of travelers are thoroughly enjoying each other in conversation and discovering this incredible country together. We’re going to explore this town top to bottom tomorrow morning!  Care to join us?
