Day 7 - Sunday, April 23rd. 2017

So even Windsor has a Marriott - and we were treated royally!  After a breakfast fit for a queen, we ventured off to the largest home in the world (at 484,000 square feet), Windsor Castle on St. George Day.  Security was a bit tight and we went through TSA style checkpoints because the Prince of York was on site.  A whirlwind tour of the State Apartments, beautiful gardens, and other grand areas, and we were back on the coach headed to a delicious lunch at the Scoff & Banter. They fed us in record time so we could get off quickly to our next destination.

Back on the coach and into the Tower of London. We walked through dungeons and different towers and into the vaults to see the Crown Jewels.  It was spectacular!  Ice cream was also a fun treat to eat as kids walked around enjoying the history that was surrounding them. Some even were able to walk in the middle of Tower Bridge as it was closed to traffic due to the London marathon.

A quick bite and we were back on the coach to the Metropolitan Tabernacle, home of Charles Spurgeon and some of the most enriching preaching this side of the Pond.  We were in awe of the reverence and respect for the Word that was demonstrated.  It was a perfect benediction to a day spent in so many castles built for the glory of man.

Our day concluded with a ferry boat ride back to the Tower for the Ceremony of the Keys, an 890 year old tradition of locking up the Tower for the night.  Our own students were able to take part in this bit of history.   The parents were treated by the County Hall Marriott to appetizers and yummy juice mix beverages and a perfect view of the glowing Big Ben which sits right outside of our hotel.  It is a magical night. Come along with us tomorrow to Westminster Abbey, Shakespeare’s Globe, Covent Garden, The London Eye and then the West End theater for Aladdin!
