Day 2 - Tuesday, April 18th 2017

It's been a lovely welcome to this beautiful country. God brought us safely over the Atlantic into London and then a four hour coach trip to Haworth. Miles of rolling hills illuminated with fluorescent yellow flowers lead us into the sweet town which was home to the famous Bronte sisters. Cobblestone streets and stone houses and daffodils everywhere tell us that we have stepped way back in time. Three Bed and Breakfasts will host our travelers' first night. We celebrate with scrumptious beef bourguignon, whipped potatoes and finish wth warm chocolate soufflĂ© and sticky toffee pudding. We're sufficiently sleepy but oh so happy. A short time of thanksgiving for safe travels, full bellies and cozy bedrooms and we are ready to bring this first full day to an end. Please come with us tomorrow as we hike the moors and step into the novels of the Brontes.

First fish & chips

Quick stop to grab lunch

Beautiful fields of yellow (rape seed oil) can be seen everywhere we travel

This is the result of not sleeping on the plane

Gorgeous views everywhere we look

If Debbie were just a wee bit taller...

The beautiful Ashmount Bed and Breakfast (we had dinner there too)

Thanking the Lord for safety and dinner blessings

We've Landed and are on our way!

As 49 of us boarded Virgin Atlantic's flight VS008 from LAX to London/Heathrow and took to the friendly skies, we were greeted with our first taste of British culture with the cheerful accents from the flight crew. With our group overtaking a large portion in the rear of the aircraft, we enjoyed snacks, fine airline cuisine and plenty of beverages that helped keep us up and about the cabin. It was a red-eye flight (which I believe means we are supposed to sleep through the night but many of us were lucky if we were able to sleep for more than 30-60 minutes). With being awake for most of the flight, it allowed for movies, sweet conversation, reading from CS Lewis and other various in flight entertainment. Upon arrival we welcomed the crisp air at about 6 degrees celsius which is perfect for those pea coats and scarves that were meticulously planned out and packed. We also met up with Mrs. Wyllie at the airport which officially made our group complete at 50. With all persons accounted for, we headed to our coach bus and were off for our beautiful drive to Haworth.

Got all our luggage and doing a final head count before heading to the bus

Loading the bus with all the luggage was like a game of Tetris ... but we did it!
